Hello, my name is Akio, a chemical engineer turned software developer and data science nerd who believes in the power of scientific research over unproven, non-statistically significant testimonials. So let me be annoying and tell you briefly about my own journey: about a year before starting this website, I suffered a mysterious series of symptoms from fatigue and hair loss to arthritis. As someone who was in reasonably good health before then, albeit a little overweight, the condition was a complete mystery...

When I became aware of my acute autoimmune condition, a product of stress and not prioritising my health, I mitigated it with what immunological experts agree is the first line of defense—diet and lifestyle: diet and lifestyle. By switching to a healthy whole foods plant-based diet (WFPB), managing stress with regular exercise, and daily cold-exposure in a frozen lake in upstate New York I was able to gradually slow and then reverse my symptoms and restore my energy levels. Now back in London, I aim to make it easier for others to change their lives with diet and exercise. This website offers advice in the form of delicious recipes that merge the latest clinical research on human nutrition and well-being as well as lifestyle tips and basic information about various avoiding or effectively managing lifestyle diseases.

Adopting a WFPB is not a prerequisite; however, it is arguably the healthiest diet and the trend most responsible for Blue Zones around the world and therefore our main focus at CuisineSavvy. We strive to remain free forever for vegans, with the possibility of adding healthy vegetarian and non-vegetarian menus in the future (in which case there will always be a corresponding vegan equivalent recipe or meal plan available).

I'd like to let the results speak for themselves, in less than 6 months of eating optimally, I've improved numerous conditions: lowered my BMI from 29 to 23, increased my aerobic fitness and VO2 max, cured my athlete's foot and other skin conditions , eliminated childhood asthma -- which though less severe in adulthood would still occaisonally require use of an inhaler -- no longer! Last but not least switching to a WFPB diet and more active lifestyle -- a virtuous cycle that will naturally occur when you prioritise your health armed with clinical research -- has dramatically stimulated hair re-growth following the accute and chronic loss of much of it from my scalp.

These improvements came without prescription medications. While not every disorder can be addressed through diet alone (always follow your doctor's advice and seek a second opinion), good nutrition often complements medication effectively.
